Dr. Deji Odetoyinbo
Dr. Deji Odetoyinbo received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Ibadan in Nigeria in 1984 and became licensed to practice in Ontario in 1990. After a brief stint in general practice, he practiced emergency and critical care medicine in Toronto’s largest and busiest emergency facility until 1998 when he took over Bathurst Animal Hospital and returned to general practice.
His special interests are in internal medicine especially cardiology, oncology and the special health and welfare needs of bulldogs and other brachycephalic breeds.
His family includes Nala, the superwoman of kittens and Levi, the ultra-cool and super cool kitten with asymmetrical ears (a result of frost bite). Both Nala and Levi were rescued from Toronto Animal Services.
Dr. Deji volunteers at the Toronto clinics of the Community Veterinary Outreach (http://vetoutreach.org/) providing free veterinary services to homeless, vulnerably-housed and street-involved people.
Outside hospital hours, Dr. Deji enjoys competitive games of Scrabble and squash. He’s an enthusiastic road cyclist and a passionate wildlife photographer.
He chaired the Complaints Committee and sat on the Discipline Committee of the College of Veterinarians of Ontario.
In 2014 Dr. Odetoyinbo won the Ontario Veterinary Medical Association’s Award of Merit for “Distinguished Public Service to the Profession”.
