What To Expect

A veterinarian holding a guinea pig

When you arrive for your appointment, you will be greeted warmly in the reception area by one of our customer care representatives, who will check you in for your appointment and usher you into an examination room.

As a new client of Bathurst Animal Hospital, you can expect our full attention to your pets’ needs. In most cases, one of our veterinary technicians will start your appointment by asking about your pet’s medical history, current condition and the reason for your visit, gathering data for the doctor.

Then, one of our veterinarians will examine your pet, ask you further questions and then may recommend diagnostic tests if needed. Once the tests have been run, which can usually be done in the practice, your doctor will discuss a possible diagnosis and treatment plan if warranted.

Two Veterinarians Examining a Dog

This is a great time to ask questions. Our veterinary team wants to make sure you’re completely comfortable with the information we’re providing.

Our veterinary technician will likely come back to wrap things up and will provide you with helpful pet care information and answer wellness and care questions for you. Our front desk staff will process your payment and schedule any needed follow up.

Please note: Our goal is to see all our clients and patients on time, and although we have contingencies for emergencies, there will be times where the unexpected will create delays. We will ensure these are minimized as much as possible.

We are excited to meet you and your human and animal family members!

Our Policies

Appointment Policy

To allow ample time for all patients and scheduled surgical procedures, we operate primarily by appointment. Emergency cases always receive top priority, which is why the occasional appointment delay is inevitable. Please realize that we make a sincere attempt to see each client on time.

Patient Arrival Policy

We insist that all dogs be placed on a leash and all cats be placed in comfortable carriers before entering the waiting room. Even though we make every effort to make our patients feel comfortable during visits, they may be a little uneasy about new people, new surroundings and other pets. This is one of the reasons we ask you to restrain your pet.

Drop-off Appointments

For your convenience, “drop-off” appointments are available. A “drop off” means you can bring your pet in at the time that works best for you and leave him/her with us for a few hours to have your concerns addressed. When you drop off your pet, you will be asked for a detailed account of your observations, concerns and requests. Our doctors will examine him or her between appointments or at the time purposely reserved for admitted patients and call you to discuss the diagnosis and any recommendations for further care.

Payment Policy

Payment in full is required at the time that services are rendered. For your convenience, we accept Debit cards, Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and cash. We also accept payments processed through: ScratchPay, Medicard, as well as Pet health insurance companies like OVMA Petline Insurance, Trupanion, PetCare and Western Financial – ask us if direct insurance billing is an option for you!
